At NWA Interventional Pain we work closely with other healthcare professionals to get you the pain relief and functional improvement that you desire. A part of this alliance is the use of physical therapy. We usually employ physical therapy after you have achieved symptom relief from interventional therapies. Physical therapy is an active method of helping pain and improving function. Physical Therapists will work initially on symptom relief by employing different techniques to reduce pain. Once pain is improved, they will tailor exercises in the clinic to help strengthen and improve range of motion. The end goal is to get you to a place where you can do the exercises at home.
Examples of physical therapy techniques for pain:
Exercise modeling
Traction
Ultrasound
TENS unit instruction and use
Hydrotherapy
Massage
Myofascial release
